A new mission for consultants

The need for a collective mind

The alleviation of poverty and the achievement of sustainable development are by no means a movement of chance to be left undesigned or a simple project to be designed by a consultant as a blue print and executed by others. The dynamic and complex situation confronted requires a continuous process of planning, design, decision and implementation so as to coordinate social, economical, technical, and environmental elements, into a continuous vision of change for improvement based on a continual active participation of stakeholders and designers as a collective mind in order to tackle the problems in the light of the perpetually changing opportunities.

Effective role of local societies

A new challenge to those involved

Consultancy's unifying effect

The potential powers of local societies to act destructively or constructively emphasizes the importance of activating local participation to define and fulfill a joint action plan. This complex situation posses a new challenge to governments, consultants and N.G.O's acting in this field. They must not replace local decisions and managerial systems, but have to recognize, develop and link them to project aims on a sustainable synergetic motivated basis.
In this context, the consultant acts as: the facilitator, organizer,
coordinator
and capacity builder of participants and  initiates the local trusts to support the continuous needs of design and development. Applying methods which will realize the continuous synergetic fusion of: aims, policies, programs, commitments, resources and benefits between all stakeholders on the road of sustainable development.

Desert revegetation

We have for more than 30 years motivated university faculties, parliamentary members, governmental administrators and local management, rural leaders and local societies "to confront" the case of poverty and undevelopment in the light of environmental reconstruction.

We have managed to bring to light the vision of rebuilt villages and regions on the basis of revegetated waste lands to be used as forest and pasture lands by the local societies leading to their economic improvement.

We have formulized these processes into multi-disciplined techno-managerial software aiming at sustainable Area Based Development concept. We developed the concept of the local consultancy and management office at project level, mamboed by the local society and technically support from outside, to confront the case, based on participatory programming and project design at grass root levels.

To permit vocational training at project level without incremental investment, the local office staff and its visiting members are commissioned to initiate local academies of arts and sciences, aiming at research, field and project oriented education in the process of sustainable development. The responsibility of recording and applying indigenous knowledge is allocated to local office members and the established local academies.

To motivate full participation in an accountable economic form we have initiated a none-cash activity and credit banking system which allows members of society to participate in the fields of social, cultural, economic, health, leisure and production leading to active work in the combat against deserts, alleviation of poverty and sustainable development.

We have devised a technology of dry zone replantation which permits plant and seed reestablishment in dry arid zone areas on the existing soil moisture eliminating the usual need of post irrigation thus simplifying the technology of revegetation and permitting cheap and wide spread local application.
